In 2005, dissatisfied with the culture and performance record of their current band, Michael Redding and Doug MacIlwain discussed a plan to improve pipe band performance and membership. This plan was discussed at the AGM for the band, but was not adopted. Subsequently, both pipers severed ties with their former band. They were not alone in their desire to create a better band culture however. After 2 years of communication with other band members, 7 Celtic Nations Pipe Band was created to put these ideas to work.
